According to local media WPTV, Silver Airways, a Florida-based boutique airline, may face the loss of its home base due to unpaid bills.

Broward County commissioners are expected to vote on whether to terminate the carrier's leases at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The airline has reportedly failed to pay its bills since 2021.

Next week, the commission is scheduled to meet to consider terminating the agreement between Silver Airways and the airport due to the airline's outstanding bills.

In the event of the termination, the airport may impound one or more of the airline's ATR aircraft to recover the losses. The airline, which once had a great reputation, recently received negative customer reviews due to poor service and reliability.

With over 900 "Terrible" ratings on TripAdvisor, unhappy customers describe Silver Airways as the "Worst Airline Ever," "Unreliable and no staff to handle problems," and a "FAKE airline" that should not be trusted, with no refunds available for customers who book with them.

According to Skytrax, Silver Airways has received a similarly poor rating of 2 out of 10, mostly from verified passengers, with hardly anyone recommending the airline to others.

Yelp reviews are also negative, with a score of just 1.5 stars out of 5 from 514 reviews. Customers have reported long delays, last-minute cancellations, lack of transparency, and poor service, reported Air101.

Staff reviews on sites like Indeed and Glassdoor focus on low pay and a lack of management direction or ability to perform satisfactorily.

Many believe that the airline is on the verge of bankruptcy as obtaining refunds for canceled trips has proven to be difficult.

Additionally, the number of cancellations due to "technical reasons" is increasing to the extent that concerns have been raised with the U.S. regulator, the FAA.
